View Full Version : OmniFocus for iPad on iOS 4.2 beta broken?

Has anyone successfully used OmniFocus for iPad on the latest iOS 4.2 beta? When trying to sync with my OmniFocus for Mac via Wi-Fi, OmniFocus for iPad's password prompt simply does not work: it ignores all keyboard input I give it. Can anyone confirm this behavior? This is OmniFocus 1.0.2 on a 16GB 3G iPad, for whatever's worth.

Thanks much,
-carlos

Worth noting that iOS 4.2 is under NDA for us, so we can't exactly respond — feel free to send any specific bug reports here (mailto:omnifocus-ipad@omnigroup.com).
We haven't seen this yet, but OS betas have definitely caused problems for us before!

Thanks for the very quick reply! I wasn't hoping for an official answer, just perhaps an anecdotal "yeah I tried it" from a different user to see if I wasn't messing anything up. I'll file a report.

I'll file a report, as well, but I am definitely seeing the same problem running iOS 4.2 beta. I can't enter the password either via the on screen keyboard or an external bluetooth keyboard.

I had the same problem. Then I made three times a warm start and then I could enter my password.

In Omnifocus for iPad under iOS 4.2 some user elements are disappeared. For example, empty folders and my own perspectives.

Yep. I can confirm the same thing noticed here too. The links themselves work in the sidebar and the correct folder/perspective is shown but the text itself is missing in the sidebar. Ex below.

Ditto on all the above for me... I have noticed that you can paste the password in when syncing instead of typing it... I hope that helps somebody!

Folks, just want to remind everyone that, as Brian noted, if you're running iOS 4.2 beta, you're under NDA; as such, the posting of that image is inappropriate, to put it mildly.

Brian, it would probably be wise to delete that image from the forum.

Thanks,
Stefan

Oh don't be silly.

That image shows nothing new or specific to iOS4.2, only to the current version of OmniFocus and hence I really don't see a problem with posting it otherwise I would have sent it via a private channel.

The Review list is completely empty.

Maps is also empty.

The pattern seems to be that any item without an arrow or other adornment on the right is empty.

Since upgrading to the Beta of iOS 4.2, I am unable to enter my mobileme account details for sync.

The popup 'Secure Website / Log in to "me.com"' dialog with username and password fields appears, but I cant type into it. worked fine under 3.2.2..

Is this just me, or is this something others can reproduce ? I know this is a Beta of iOS, but it would be nice to hear that a solution is coming in some future release...

As iOS4.2 is currently covered by NDA talking about problems in a public forum isn't really feasible without breaking that NDA so at the moment all you can really do is mail the support ninjas and let them know anything you find..

Did a quick merge into the older thread...

Carlos,

Clearly they have issues with sync to Mobileme however you can get it to work... I did.

For your user name - put in your password. When you click sync or save (forgot which) it will prompt you for your password. Paste it into the password field then go to user ID and retype your user name. It will take that and then you can hit login. It will save it and your then good to go!

Hope this helps

All,

For the password issue, just copy it to the clipboard from anywhere and paste it to password field on OmniFocus setup screen...

Hope this helps!

Anyone tried Beta 2 yet? Not planning to install until I know OF is working!

Well, I went ahead and braved beta 2 anyway. Still got the issue with the invisible sidebar items but the app still seems to be working in spite of them.

I think I'll try & live with it for now, as the folders and unified inbox are just too nice to live without..

Ditto. The 1.1 release seems to work fine on 4.2 beta 2.

Correct, besides the password problem.

Works for me as well on 4.2 B2 besides the password issue. 4.3 B3 is out however. Did anybody try on that one?

OmniFocus 1.1, iOS 4.2 GM

I'm trying to setup syncing to Mobile Me but the login dialog does not accept any text. The dialog is shown and the keyboard is visible but no text appears in either the username or password fields.

You guys better push out a fix because 4.2 is probably going to be out for the general public within days.

Oh, a workaround for this bug is to use Copy & Paste. That seems to work fine. I typed my password in the Notes app and copied it to the MobileMe login dialog.

Fix coming. New thread merged with existing one. :-)
