That favicon is huge - 32x32.

Do you have a specific example? The ones I tried stayed in the same window.

This has happened on a lot of sites I've visited, especially forums. Links open in new windows, no matter what prefs I use.

Read the release notes - links with target="_blank" (IIRC) opening new windows is a known issue that hasn't been fixed yet.
