Sidebar background color

I often create outlines with soft, muted background colors to make it easier on my eyes. But when I have my sidebar open, the sidebar is white, and glaringly different from the rest of the outline. So I wind up closing the sidebar when not in active use, and then re-opening it, then closing it, re-opening it. I'd rather just leave it open.

I know that the sidebar takes on a hint of the document's background color, but if the background color is subtle, then the sidebar color is so subtle as to be almost invisible.

I wish we could set a background color for the sidebar, just as one can in OmniFocus.
