On some pages, hitting command+shift+i loads the images, but the image icon in the status bar doesn't go away. Even after clicking that icon, it still doesn't go away.
And on some pages, it still doesn't load all images. Here's an example page.
Also, the little overlay on the placeholder that showed the domain of the image that was being blocked, often doesn't show up.
