Is anyone else getting high CPU usage with the latest test builds? I have about 10 sites open and the CPU is pushing 99% all the time.

Not here. I have at least 10 tabs open as a test and am typing this and the cpu is hovering at 2%.

Perhaps it's something about one of those sites?

Yes, I'm getting it too, while running Gmail, Google Reader, and a handful of other more-or-less-vanilla-HTML pages.

I'm getting higher than normal CPU usage right now in both Safari and OmniWeb while gmail is up. So you might try closing that (and possibly google reader) and see if things improve for you.

Found the culprit! It was a DHTML/JS text scroller on a cosmetics site my wife was visiting on my laptop. I found another site which has one but it's not as bad but it will demonstrate the high CPU usage (99%) I was experiencing.

Some of these are worse than others but they are common. I tested it with Safari 3, FF 2, FF 3. Safari and OW had high cpu numbers so it has to be a webkit thing. FF didn't suffer like Webkit.

It's JS benchmarked on various browsers and Webkit wasn't the fastest but it did well.
