OmniFocus DueSoon.ics on Google Calendar

Hi,

is it possible to subscribe to OmniFocus DueSoon.ics on Google Calendar? I have WedDAV account over https so I tried this URL but it does not work https://username:password@domain.com/user/DueSoon.ics

I error: "Could not fetch the url."

Thank you.

Did you try https://domain.com/user/DueSoon.ics, supplying the username and password when prompted?

Yes, I did and I never got a prompt for a username/password.

Any luck with this yet? I have the DueSoon.ics hosted on mobileme and trying to subscribe to it in google calendar... has anyone achieved this?

@mnisbet:

I don't think that Google Calendar supports subscribing to iCal feeds that require authentication (i.e. like the DueSoon.ics file that OF for iPhone creates on MobileMe).

The way I have got around the limitation is as follows:

1) Log in to http://me.com/

2) Locate the DueSoon.ics file in your iDisk and select it.

3) Click on the 'Share File...' button in the last pane of the iDisk "Finder"

4) Untick the 'Link expires after...' checkbox

5) Click on the 'Share' confirmation button

6) Now, copy the link that the file has been shared at (it will be displayed in that last pane again and will be something like: http://files.me.com/YOURUSERNAME/randomstringhere)

7) You can then use this link to add it into Google Calendar as a subscription in the normal way

I suppose the main thing to be aware of with this way of doing things is that someone could guess the link to your calendar as the random string isn't that long.

Hope that works for you too

Paul.

Thanks will give that a try right now.

I'm right in thinking that google calendar changes are pushed to iphone (after sync is set up)? You don't need to open the calendar app on iphone for changes to be refreshed?

Similarly, once syncing with duesoon.ics from OF iphone app, the changes wont automatically be pushed to iphone cal app, you'd need to open the calendar to initiate a refresh?

Yes, I think that's correct, but I only use the Omni preferred way to get the calendar on my iPhone.

If you are referring to the preferred Omni way here (i.e. to set it up as a CALDAV subscription) I'm not sure how often it refreshes.

OF pushes changes to the WebDAV server whenever you sync OF. The calendar updates at the frequency set for fetching in Home → Settings → Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

Thanks for the clarification on that!
