Renaming an instance of OmniGraffle

Having installed OmniGraffle, I am apparently unable to rename the application in a particular, peculiar, manner.

If I attempt to rename OmniGraffle version 4 to "OmniGraffle 4" from simply "OmniGraffle" the extra digit is not visible in the Finder; the name appears to remain just "OmniGraffle." The extra digit is visible in the Terminal so the bundle is definitely being renamed.

A similar effect may be observed with OmniGraffle 5. Renaming it "OmniGraffle 5" results in behavior identical to what is observed with v.4.

I can successfully, and visibly, rename either one with digits other than the digit corresponding to their major version number. (I haven't tried with OmniGraffle 3.)

This is even more interesting when two versions of OmniGraffle are installed simultaneously: two application bundles appear next to one another in the Applications folder, both named "OmniGraffle."

This is unexpected behavior and I'd very much like to know how OmniGroup managed to accomplish it.

Cheerily,
A Confused User

Starting with OmniGraffle 4.2 (to include OmniGraffle Professional), we named the application "OmniGraffle 4" (or 5) and then localized in the English localization to only display in the Finder "OmniGraffle" or "OmniGraffle Professional" in order to expressly not overwrite an older version of the application.

Basically even though we warn users that a major upgrade (i.e., version 4 to 5) will require an upgrade fee, too many people wound up upgrading and stuck without a valid license key -- Hence the desire to download and install a newer version that wouldn't overwrite the older version of the application, leaving the licensed version intact.
