FAQ : How to set up your WebDAV sync settings in OmniPlan 2.0 for collaboration

This is a tutorial on how to configure OmniPlan to sync over a WebDAV server. The process is similar for setting up MobileMe or Omni Sync Server, just select "MobileMe" or "Omni Sync Server" in step #5.

To begin, someone needs to publish an OmniPlan project to a WebDAV server:
1. In OmniPlan, go to Project -> Configure Publishing and Subscriptions in the menu bar.

2. A configuration sheet will appear. Click on the + button on the left to bring up a menu of various publish and update actions. You'll want to select entire plan with OmniPlan server repository.

3. Once that action is added you'll see an Account Info... button to the right. Click that button to bring up the Accounts preference pane.

4. In the Accounts preference pane, click on the + button to add a sync server.

5. Select WebDAV from the list. If you want to use MobileMe, select MobileMe instead.

6. You can name this sync account, then enter your server path and login credentials. Please note: OmniPlan can not create a new directory on your server. The server path you enter must point to an existing directory.

7. Wait for OmniPlan to give the "Account Verified" status. Once you see that, you can now Close the Accounts preference pane.

8. The publish and subscription sheet should have the name of your newly created sync account in the drop-down menu next to Server Accounts. Select the sync account.

9. You have the option to automatically publish your project every time you save your OmniPlan file, as well as receive updates over Bonjour instantly or on a specificed time interval. This is optional, so check whichever settings you want for this.

10. Once that is configured, click OK. You can click on the Publish button in the toolbar to publish your OmniPlan project to your WebDAV server. If your project was never saved, you will be prompted to save your project first before being allowed to publish.
Congratulations, your OmniPlan project has been published to your WebDAV server! Now you'll want other OmniPlan users to download your project so they can collaborate with you. To set this up, follow the instructions below:
1. On their copy of OmniPlan, go to OmniPlan -> Preferences -> Accounts in the menu bar.
2. In the Accounts preference pane, click on the + button to add a sync server.
3. Select WebDAV from the list. If you want to use MobileMe, select MobileMe instead.
4. You can name this sync account, then enter your server path and login credentials. When you're done you can close the Accounts preference pane.
5. In the menu bar, go to File -> Open from Server Repository... and select the sync account in the drop-down menu.
6. Select the OmniPlan file you want to open, then click Open.
The OmniPlan file will download and open. You'll want to go to File -> Save to save it on your Mac. Whatever save and publish settings that were saved in the OmniPlan file when it was published is remembered. This means options like, "Perform publishing actions when saving" are enabled if the server copy of the OmniPlan file has it enabled. If you don't want this to happen every time you save, be sure to turn it off in the Publishing and Subscriptions settings.

If you don't have OmniPlan set to check for updates periodically, you can check manually by clicking on the Update button in the toolbar.

Hope this helps!
