are custom icon sets possible?

I’ve been using OW for awhile now. Have never been a big fan of the icon set but lived with it. Recently needed a mozilla browser for web development work (why won’t webkit browsers display WYSIWYG editors?), not a huge Firefox fan so was using Camino and used a program called Caminicon to modify the icon sets and was reminded how much more pleasant such functionality can make the browsing experience for me.

Would love to be able to swap out icon sets in OW. Is that possible?

I saw a thread where people were talking about icons from someone named Jon Hicks. Found a site of his but didn’t see icons. So am kinda confused about the whole thing.

Try this page here:

I think a few other people have created their own sets as well but this is the most popular one.

From Candybar 3 FAQ http://www.panic.com/candybar/support.html

Why can I no longer change "Application Extras"?
CandyBar 2 let you modify icons inside of an application, including document icons. But things are much different in Leopard: a new security feature in 10.5 adds the ability to validate the integrity of applications by scanning their contents, and could potentially cause system problems if internal icons are modified. We try to play it safe — as a result, this feature has been removed in CandyBar 3. We're very sorry for the inconvenience.

Just a reminder if you use Leopard firewall.

Promising, but how do you install them?
Promising, but how do you install them?
They are just TIFFs that coincide with the TIFFs inside the content of Omniweb. Nothing fancy - just manually replace the ones in there.

Just control-click (right-click) on Omniweb and select "Show Package Contents". Navigate to Contents/Resources/ and then just drop in the TIFFs and they will replace the originals. If you want to be able to switch back, make copies of the original files in there first. Anytime OmniWeb is updated, the colored files will be replaced and you'll have to do it again.

Thanks! This makes the toolbar colors more uniform. If you create any more icons let us know.

Thanks, adds a nice contrast to the toolbar. OW should consider making this their default color scheme for the Browser.

Hey, thanks a lot! I was never crazy about the boring blue used as the default. Glad you guys like it.

Very cool icon set! It certainly perks up OW's toolbar! Actually, this would be a very nice default icon set of OW! Nice work!
