Automatic grid distribution
Hey,
I have about 400 hundred icons of equal size I'd like to distribute on a perfect grid in a stencil. I noticed the Distribute & Grid controls in the Inspector but I cannot figure how to make them work to distribute the icons. Has anyone found a way to do that ? |
I don't know how to do both row and column at the same time.
I would Select all, in the Alignment inspector click the button with the tooltext "offset vertically using the vertical spacing" that would give one big column, which you could use as a template for cutting in half and so on. |
There are other folks here with more OmniGraffle experience than I have, but when I've needed to do something like this in the past, I just hand-drop them roughly into position, then do a pass over the items with
Arrange -> Align -> Make Centered Row (and/or "Centered Column") from the menu bar to get them into the final positions. |

I can see how that would work. Still takes some work but that would get it done. Thanks ! |
