Is there a way to display the year as four digits?

Sure! OmniFocus displays date strings based on the “Short” format set in System Preferences. In Mavericks, this is found under Language & Region > Advanced > Dates

Click the triangle on the ‘Year’ element to switch to four digits, click ‘OK’, then restart OmniFocus. Hope that helps!
