Coming from Opera ...

Hey there y'all,

I have been enticed away from Opera to Omniweb by the latter's better integration with Mac services, but there are two things I miss about opera:

Firstly, I miss mouse gestures. They are fast and natural to use (once you are used to them) and not having them is quite annoying; and

Secondly, I think there is a lack of advanced tab control options. I am used to tabs opening directly to the right of the current tab, and the most recently visited tab getting focus if the current tab closes. I realise that not everyone would want those particular settings, but having the option would be nice.

The mouse gestures are less pressing, I guess, because there are 3rd party applications like xGestures that work as a stop gap. They tend to be far less seamless than their built-in counterparts though.

Anyway, just my $0.02.

There are system-wide mouse gesture solutions from 3rd party vendors you might want to look into, here are the ones I know of:

FlyGesture

This one is free and actually the most Mac-like. I don't know whether it's enough functionality for you.

xGestures

This one should work for all applications

CocoaSuite

THis one works only with Cocoa Applications (OminWeb is one), so some older applications or cross-platform applications might not work with it.

I can easily suggest Cocoa Suite as it works on my macs since 2003 without any problems.

It also comes with a marvellous input managers 'manager' for Leopard which means you don't have to attach its input manager to very application you use. You just select which apps.

Just like Omniweb, CocoaSuite (and some others) are only possible on OS X since there is (often misused and misunderstood) Input Manager technology exists.
