Full online version of OmniFocus

Are there any plans to create an online version (perhaps similar to Google Calendar's interface) of OmniFocus, or at least a PC version?

Offering the option to host OmniFocus online would alleviate the inability to perfectly synchronize OmniFocus at the moment.

I do not see the limited iPhone-formatted webaccess to OmniFocus on my mac as feasible in the long run.

Try http://www.toodledo.com and search for the Apple Script that syncs them.

It has been working for me pretty well.

Do you mean a service in which Omni provides a web app where users subscribe and store their data online? They don't have anything like that with any of their products - that I know of. That would be a new business model for them.

BZ - thanks for the toodledo recommendation. I'll definitely try it out (and the google calendar plugin is a plus).

pvonk - OmniFocus wouldn't have to host the service themselves. They could package it as a webservice that requires one's own server - but alas this would also be an entirely different service than OmniGroup currently provides.

The most needed functionality, in addition to online syncing, would be a PC client. I am unable to work on a mac at work.

I am in the same boat and ToodleDo has really made the difference.

Two way syncing + FireFox integration = ubiquitous capture.

I'm late to this thread but I found this on the http://groups.google.com/group/oftd page:

Please Note: With the release of OmniFocus for iPhone, all further development and maintenance in OFTD has stopped. This was always the plan, as this was developed to be a stop gap program until the iPhone solution was available. I know that there are some features in the OFTD that aren't available in the iPhone version (PC support, web client etc). The source is in the script and if anyone is interested in furthering this project, just let me know and I'll pick a open license (GNU/MIT etc) and release it to the world.

This doesn't help me as I still want to find an online web solution.

At the moment I can export in taskpaper format on my Mac, and then see online when I get to work (on my PC). But there is no sync back to Omni as it won't import taskpaper.

I can use my iPod touch with wifi at work, using the Omnifocus for iPhone app, but I'd still love to see a sync with a webapp proper. It's a shame that it's not still in development.

Any ideas how to close this loop? Basically I want Omnifocus sync on mac and online and iphone.

Maybe that basecamp sync that people are talking about on the extras forum will work for you?

There never was a webapp proper in development, if by that you mean a webapp that would allow you the full ability to create non-trivial content like you can on the iPhone. Are you envisioning something like MobileMe's webmail version of the Mail application? Duplicating OF's interface as a webapp seems like a lot of work for not much extra revenue...who is going to pay for it?

Hi dougnet99,

As Lucas already mentioned, there are possibilities to synchronize OmniFocus with Basecamp (and vice versa). Basecamp is a great "web-interface" to manage todos. But it's main feature is the possibility to collaborate with others. This is something you can't (easy) do with OmniFocus.

Best regards,
Lars
