My weekly review Project

The recent thread: "establishing a routine" ('for moving through contexts') inspired me to update my weekly review Project here, which includes a number of Actions that are to 'run through' various Perspectives as part of my WR. In case this is of any help, here it is (obviously anyone using it would modify it to suit their needs). The first three Action Group titles are from David Allen, as well as a few Action titles (Empty my head, Think creatively, etc.). Get David Allen's Weekly Review template free here (requires a login): https://secure.davidco.com/store/catalog/Weekly-Review-p-16165.php

In the Notes field of Actions like: "Bring computer "in" folder to zero." (from Ethan Schoonover's Kinkless Desktop) , I've placed an alias of that folder, for convenience of opening (those folders are not shown in this text list).

The Project is set to a weekly repeating cycle corresponding to my WR date/time. I don't check it off however; I just re-set the date. (I've put in a request for an optional behavior to mark a repeating Action or Project as complete, reset the date, but don't keep a copy of the completed Action or Project.)

There are four Action Groups. The indented lines are Actions.

Perspective routines calling up other Perspectives can be a very powerful tool. I also look forward to a future enhancement of being able to open a Perspective from an alias(?) in an OF Notes field.

Hi Omnibob, very helpful indeed. Two naive questions: What is a purpose of bringing sent email to zero? Are you filing those into project folders? And second, even more naive :-): Do you start the week with this or do you do the weekly review at the end of your work week?

So, does that mean you're not interested in doing it right now? :-)

In your Library/Application Support/OmniFocus/Perspectives folder you'll find a file for each perspective you've defined. Just drag that file to the notes field and you're all set.
Two naive questions: What is a purpose of bringing sent email to zero?
Good question; simple answer. Since I cc or bcc myself on anything I want to keep a record of, I consider my Sent Mail to be a bit bucket. I empty it to keep my mail quota down, and because it feels clean (the latter is purely psychological, but useful for me).

I do process the mail I cc or bcc myself to the appropriate place: archive, project folder, or move to a database via a script. Sent mail is just trashed.
Do you start the week with this or do you do the weekly review at the end of your work week?
I do two WR's: work, on Fridays from 1-3pm (the lunch hour buffer from work is additionally nice to create some 'space' before doing the WR.; personal: Sundays from 7-9pm. I have a fresh week to start.

I was not aware -- that is truly outstanding, thanks so much! It is a bit more work, and I do change the names of my perspectives sometimes, which would mean re-pointing, but the method you've described is certainly worth implementing, until I can do it directly in the app someday. Thanks.
