Estimates & Duration Columns

Is it possible to slate in development of a duration column... right now we have an estimate column which is great and it gets exported as a duration field... it would be great to have both so that for freelancing projects we can estimate how long something is going to take and then also put in the actual duration of time... without using the start/end dates... the start/end dates that quite a while to input data in quickly and for tasks that are done in one day you just need a duration field...

it would be great indicator for freelancers to see how much they're actually making... so if you quote a job at 2h and it takes 1h you're ahead etc...

thoughts?

Why stop there? How about a rate column, and invoice generation, and ... :-)

Seems like you'd be much better off using an actual time/effort tracking program, or perhaps a tool like OmniPlan that is built from the ground up with support for tracking both actual and estimated effort and duration.

If you've got OmniOutliner, there's a Timesheet script or two in the Useful Scripts collection on the product page (in the Extras directory). You could use that to track your effort, then just copy and paste the associated rows into the project header in OmniFocus, as seen in the attached screenshot.
