Drag multiple objects?

Am I on crack? I'm trying out OmniGraffle for the first time and everything seems great except that I can't select and move multiple objects except by using the arrow keys. When clicking in a group of objects, the selection is undone, while trying command, option, etc... I can't move all the objects either.

The only method that works is using arrow keys.

I presume there is a good answer, but regardless, can info about this be added to the docs as well? It's a pretty glaring peculiarity for a new user.

After you make the selection, click and drag on one of the objects in the selection and the whole bunch will move as one. If you click in the empty space between the objects, you lose the selection, as you've discovered, and if you click on one of the handles, you'll reshape the selected objects.

Have you watched the video tutorials? I would recommend watching them, then reading the manual. http://www.omnigroup.com/products/omnigraffle/videos/

Funny, works like a charm. I guess that was too obvious for me.

It would be nice though if OmniGraffle treated the entire area within the box as part of the selection, rather than just the area within one of the selected elements. It's just a bit more obvious.

Cheers.

Seems like standard Mac behavior, slightly enhanced (the other apps I tried all require that you drag one of the selected objects, but drew handles on each individual object instead of one set for the group). One drawback to your suggestion is that if you select everything, and your shapes cover enough of the canvas, there's no quick place to click to deselect.

In any case, to make an official suggestion or bug report or request for help, use Help->Send Feedback in the program, or email omnigraffle@omnigroup.com. The Omni folk are pretty good about reading the forum, but email through those channels is guaranteed a response, not so for forum posts.

The other thing to bear in mind is that if the object you choose to click and drag on is an unfilled shape, you have to have your pointer on the stroke, not the non-existent fill.
