numbering functionality

Does anyone have any tricks/scripts for locking or freezing the auto-numbering on an outline after you decide it is "mature" enough? Perhaps an option to only auto-update numbering when you tell it to? Alternatively, would there be a way to join the numbering text with its associated content, so that if you copy-paste it to another application it retains its numbering? (Sometimes this happens now, but it is inconsistent and appears to relate to whether the "pasting" application uses the system cocoa text engine.) Regardless, it would be nice to have this native within OO, especially when pasting items between multiple OO outlines.

This would be useful (esp. w/ legal numbering) for when you want to refer to an outline item by its unique number, and need to re-arrange or paste the actual outline content somewhere else. It breaks the reference if something gets renumbered every time you move it.

In general, I think this request builds on several other users' requests for more control over numbering (non-subsequent, etc.) in OO. Maybe something to look at for next version?
