Purchasing the App Before Tomorrow

How does the license setup for the App work? Would I be able to purchase the app today on the App Store and sync it to my iPhone and then once I move to my iPhone 3G tomorrow have it run on there? Assuming that the 2.0 software comes out today, the app store is up.
