Alerts for Due Date?

my wife likes to be organised and has found interest in using OF, but she would need OF to tell her when a task becomes due. currently, that doesn't seem possible, at least not actively. the user is required to launch OF and look at the main table to see if any task is due now or soon.

can this be improved? are you waiting for Apple to implement the Push services whereupon the iPhone would automatically display an alert whenever a task became due, or when the user entered a 'context' GPS zone?

cheers,
Gregory

(we have both the iPhone and Mac versions of OF)

We have no ability to set alerts on the phone. Push notifications wouldn't really be a general solution, either (although it's conceivable that they could be used to alleviate the issue for some users). Sorry we don't have a more satisfying answer at this time.

Part of "doing GTD" is doing the GTD daily review.

As part of this process, you move stuff that is fixed in time over to the calendar, such as appointments and whatnot.

So if you're using OF the right way* you don't need OF to beep at you and tell you about appointments, because the appointment's already in the calendar and you've made sure you've got the time set aside to travel there (and back).

This is why you do a daily review - load up your reminder system for the stuff you have to get done in the next day (and a bit).

If you haven't got Dave's book yet, make sure you go grab a copy and start reading.

Hope this helps!

* The right way being my way, of course ;)
