Safari webarchive to OW ditto ?
I have a bunch of webarchives saved in Safari that I would
rather have open in OmniWeb ... Of course I could just open said in OW by way of a contextmenu option etc. but hey I like double-clicking stuff & find the OW webarchive icon nice too :). Not so long ago in a situation like this you could simply change the Creator/File type and that was it but since neither use these, it doesn't work. After investigating a bit it seems that the key difference (1) between Safari and OW webarchives is that the latter is saved with a resourcefork, which I suppose (among other things) "instructs" the OS to launch OW instead of Safari ? My initial thought was, right, I have to somehow copy this (standard ?) resourcefork and attach it to the Safari webarchives, but this approach seems a tiny bit time consuming and besides, I'm not sure I'd know how to actually do that ... Anyway to make a long story short, does anyone know of a way to convert a Safari webarchive to an OmniWeb ditto ? (1): one other thing I noticed with the OW variety of Webarchives is that the kMDItemKeywords metadata-field is automatically populated, unlike the Safari ones |
Can't you do a get info on a Safari Webarchive (CMD+I in the Finder) change the Application to open the file to OmniWeb and then click the button "Change all..." to make OmniWeb open all Safari Webarchives?
Works for me. |
Geez. I guess I'm not immune this sort of the answer-is-right-in-front-of-you-scenario :)
