Hide dot extension checkbox gone?

I have my doc template set up to pull in the document variable name. This now comes through as "documentName.graffle" because the check box in save or export has now gone for some reason?

if you delete the .graffle bit in the finder, the doc turns into a folder with all the canvases as tiffs or pdfs and is then no longer openable until you put the .graffle extension back on the folder

Is this a macOS problem, i noticed this happened after i repaired permissions on my disc? Currently running v5.2.3 (v138.17.0.133677)
