Canvas - auto-adjust size vs. minimum height

I have a canvas (template) with 2" height. If I turn on the "Auto adjust the canvas size", the height changes to 3". If I change the height to 2", the "Auto-adjust" goes off. The canvas is empty.

Am I doing something wrong?
