5.10.2 sneaky peek breaks dictionary lookup

Hi there,

I gave the latest SP a try and noticed it preventing proper OS X dictionary lookup. Instead of showing a small popup over text when invoked via command-control-d, Dictionary.app launches with a different word from the web page selected.

Deal breaker for me.

Thanks for your time!

I just tried it with the latest sneaky peek under 10.4, 10.5, 10.6 and it behaved correctly in all cases. Are you sure you don't have any conflicting keyboard shortcuts defined or other variations from the stock setup? Does the behavior persist if you create a new user and try it there?

Thank you whpalmer4 for your reply. So I tested this in a new user account and it works as it should there. That's slightly annoying, because it leaves solving the problem on my side ;-)

I'm sure the support ninjas would be willing to help you find the problem if you contact them via Help->Send Feedback.

Definitely check the shortcut for "Add to Bookmarks". Normally, it's Apple-D, but when you hold down option, it removes the confirmation dialog box. Thus, Apple-Opt-D turns "Add to Bookmarks..." into "Add to Bookmarks". If you have a string of bookmarks for the same site, that's your issue. Head to System Preferences to change the shortcut for the elipses-less menu item.

I recently played with Ubuntu and Google Chrome to check out possibly greener pastures, and coming back to OS X and Omniweb is bliss :-)

So I really wanted to solve this issue. TimmyDee pointed at an issue that bugged me and others at the introduction of Snow Leo. At that time I had changed my keyboard short cut settings regarding dictionary lookups not to interfere with Omniweb's direct bookmark feature. That's what bit me now that Omniweb's behavior had changed. Sadly that wasn't mentioned in the release notes. That would have helped a lot.

So to resolve my issue I had to change my custom Dictionary lookup short cut again and delete my former Omniweb override short cut.

Thanks for the suggestions guys and maybe this helps someone in the future.
