Can't login to MobileMe

The .Mac to MobileMe transition is underway.

When I open http://www.me.com/, OmniWeb 5.8 SP1 is redirected to a MobileMe Login page with a very verbose URL (which I've censored for readablity and possible security):

https://auth.apple.com/authenticate?service=DockStatus&realm=primary-me&returnURL=aHR0cDovL3d35t...9saW5l&destinationUrl=/idisk

When I enter my .Mac username and password, OW begins bouncing back and forth between http://www.me.com/idisk/ and what appears to be the same https://auth.apple.com/authenticate URL. I've let it run for a minute or two a couple of time. One time, the looping ended with a white page reporting "Unauthorized".

When I switched to Firefox 2.0.0.15, the process quickly proceeded to the http://www.me.com/idisk/ home page.

This OmniWeb problem may disappear once the MobileMe transition is complete.

Same here. Firefox and Safari work fine. Turned off ad blocking, plug-ins and other weirdness to ensure that wasn't the problem.

You should send a bug report directly to the Omni folks (via Send Feedback in the Help menu). They get those faster than forum posts.

Works for me, but didn't right away

First, set up site prefs for me.com and apple.com

Identify as Safari 3.1.1. Set everything else to allow everything: Javascript (all), Java, Cookies from other sites, popups, ads, etc

Works fine now. A little slow first time, but it looks nice so far.

Oh, and first go to your prefs>cookies (global prefs) and delete cookies from apple.com, auth.apple.com before trying again.

You'll know you re-setted when you see the login screen again. If you don't delete the cookies after a failed login, you're stuck.

Accept cookies from any site

Support Ninja David M. suggested similar work-arounds, and I still got into the URL loop.

Thanks to Handycam's suggestion, this time I also unchecked Accept cookies > Only from the current site. That did the trick.

Yeah, that's the stickler. If you can set apple.com to accept cookies from other sites (you don't have to for me.com or mac.com) you'll be fine.

Tried the tricks, I even held my mouth right. With OW all I can get is a new tab with the single word Unauthorized.

Handycam 2008-07-12 07:26 AM

make sure you delete the cookies before trying. And go to the regular apple.com NOT me.com and set it to accept cookies from other sites.

During authentication it goes between me.com and auth.apple.com often.

Well, I was finally able to login with OW, but I really don't know what exactly I did to accomplish this feat.

Sure is slow rendering pages with OW.

Mobile me is a slow site. There's a lot of fancy stuff going on.
