When I go to [url=http://writely.com]writely.com[/url], I get an error:
[INDENT]Cannot Load Address
Stopped loading <http://www.writely.com/?action=unsupported_browser>: too many HTTP redirects

I can work around this problem by identifying myself as FireFox, but shouldn't it "just work" without having to do that?

If you can work around it by changing your browser identification, then it is a problem with the web site--the only things we change are the user agent header we send with the request and what we report to javascript, all the rest of our behavior is the same.

And based on the URL, they've already slammed the door in your face by the time you see the error.

You know you're dealing with a badly coded site when they can't even reject you without messing up. The fact that it's unnecessary rejection--guess they feel they really can have too many visitors--is just icing on the cake.

<sigh>
