why can't I change font colors?
 

I'm trying to improve the somewhat drab interface by playing with the styles. For action items, I can change the background but not the text color. I think I've tried everything, but apparently not since I downloaded a STYLE that someone posted on this forum a while ago and it works fine.
Any ideas?

I presume you are running a Sneaky Peek release of 1.1, right?

Are you saying that you can go to the Style preferences, as seen below, change the Text color indicator after selecting a status-based style (Completed, Due Soon, Overdue, Blocked) in the lower left corner, and it doesn't have any effect on your document? It certainly seems to work for me, although trying it out exposed a bug...
