Sort chronologically?
 

Hi-
I'd like to sort my Action items in a simple date order, but when I select the Sort>Due option it doesn't sort all the items in chronological order (e.g., the most recent items first).

Some of the Action items are placed at the top, but others are not.

Does anyone know how to do a simple sort, or could tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks much.

Are you referring to the Edit > Sort menu command, or to sorting using the View Bar? I seem to recall that in 1.02 and 1.03, the Edit > Sort > By due date did not work and a bug report had been filed.

If you're referring to the View Bar: in Planning mode, the Sort by due date option works on project due dates, not action due dates. Or, to complicate matters a little more: it sorts projects by the first due date, whether that is the project's due date or an action's due date.

If you would like your actions sorted by their due date (or the due date of their project, if they don't have their own), then switch to Context mode and choose sort.

Thanks for the helpful clarification on this.

Because it's most helpful for my work style to sort the Action items by their due date, the "Context" option that you explained works just great. Thanks!
