[OG #851806] Backup - How To Turn OFF ?? OG very slow, Mac "beach ball"

( I sent this e-mail to OmniGraffle Support = ticket number [OG #851806] )

I am continually seeing the Mac "beach ball" in the middle of using OmniGraffle. It happens every few minutes it seems, and it lasts for some 30 seconds it seems ("eternity," and "too much interruption," and "not really sustainable").

* Does not occur at startup.
* I believe it often but not always occurs when I Save.
* It definitely also happens lots of times when I am not explicitly Saving.
* I'm not taxing my machine with lots of other running applications, etc.

This happens with all diagrams, large, small (maybe not tiny simplistic ones). Current one is 500Kb, one Canvas, one Layer.

I've looked around on web, see mostly old posts, tried Forum a little not a ton.

Mostly I see "In General Preferences, turn off Backup."

My General Preferences does not show me that option.

How can I turn off Backup, and, how else can I avoid the slow "beach ball" hanging of OG?

OmniGraffle 5.4.2 (v139.16 r171715) (Latest)
Mac OS X 10.7.5 (11G63) (Latest)
2.13 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
MacBook Air, 13-inch, Late 2010

Much appreciated,

OG Dialog shows me OG is indeed doing AutoSave. I'd like to turn that OFF. Thx.

Update:

I just got an OG dialog box that shows me OG is indeed trying to do 'autosave' (is this same as Backup? - would seem to be).

What Caused Dialog To Appear:
Without quitting OG, I had used Finder to create a Copy of my then open .graffle, and upon returning to OG and bit later going to Save the still open graffle, I got this dialog box:

Dialog:
-------------------
The document "CB3-FOLDERS-FlowDiagrams.graffle" could not be autosaved. The file has been changed by another application.

Click Save Anyway to keep your changes ...
or Click Revert to keep the changes from ...
--------------------

As I noted initially, the General Preferences for my OG (latest version) do not show any control viz. Backup, or AutoSave, etc.

Thanks.
William Reilly

I'm having this exact same issue and it's infuriating. OmniGraffle is basically unusable.
