OF 1.9 changes to "due soon" badge color, count, behavior

I recently updated my OmniFocus to 1.9, and I've been a bit thrown by the change in badge color/display. I have a series of repeating events for a daily schedule. They are set to repeat every day, so when I check off a completed due/overdue action, it immediately changes to "due soon."

Unfortunately, if I complete nine out of 10 items one morning, and one item for today remains due/overdue, the badge indicator shows red - and it shows a count of 10 due/overdue items. I would much prefer to see that I still have one due/overdue item remaining for today, not a false indicator that I still have all 10 still due/overdue.

How about a way to toggle which behavior we'd like in a preference setting? I absolutely *don't* want to see a red due/overdue badge with a count reflecting "due soon" items.

I realize there are those who like the current behavior, as noted in this post:

In case it helps, the emails this change is intended to help with were
of two varieties:

1) "Why do the badges on the iOS apps and the Mac show different
things?"

and

2) "I have one overdue item and 12 due soon items. Why the heck isn't
OmniFocus warning me that I'm about to be swamped? I want to see
13, not 1..."

The folks requesting the change didn't like the old behavior; they
felt that the lower number invited a false feeling of security, and
they're going to regard the new one as a feature. (This isn't a
bug, in other words.)

However, I can totally see how other folks might feel like LMSboy does
about this change. The thing to do here is send the support ninjas
an email and let 'em know that you feel that way, so we can try to
make both groups happy in some manner before the final release of
1.8.3 ships. Thanks!

I support your idea and would also argue the badge count should intelligently account for groups that are marked as complete with last task or not. The former should show one less than the latter.

In the meantime, I've taken mostly to ignore the badge count as a reliable representation of how many tasks I have in line because it is partially ambiguous for your reasons and for the one above. I use it only as a flag to say -- something is (possibly) here to do. Perhaps some day I'll figure out how to make it consistently useful in my workflow ... which is unfortunate since it is supposed to be a useful feature.

If all you're interested in is the color, not the magnitude of the number, it's possible to have OF show only a color-coded dot, with no number. http://forums.omnigroup.com/showpost.php?p=95831&postcount=7

Thanks for the option of omitting the numbers.

If I do still have one due/overdue item, however, I would like to see the count. I believe there should be a preference-level setting for this behavior, and I really don't see the value of indicating there are 10 due items when only one item is due.
