Graphviz support for right-angle connectors ?
 

Does Omnigraffle use Graphviz to generate layouts with right-angle connectors ?

I am trying to understand the mess that ensues when the direction of a top-down right-angle connected tree is switched to left-right ...

Much better results are, alas, given by an old-fashioned program like Inspiration:

Have you checked the magnet inspector? It looks to me as if the text boxes for the original vertical alignment only have north and south magnets, so when you change orientation, the links are still attaching at those points. If the text boxes do have east and west magnets, I don't know how you can get the links to move to them, other than doing it manually.

Hi, what I'm testing (hence the comparison w. Inspiration) is the automatic generation of a diagram from the outline panel to the left.

Manual interventions are certainly possible, but they're not really what I'm after. (Diagram generation and direction switching are both automatic in Inspiration).

Switching style-sheet rather than just direction might, I suppose, be the best approach. The starting style sheet (for the top-down tree), has to have only two (North South) magnets per node to avoid strange lateral connections.

I should probably switch to a diagram style with 2 East West magnets per node, and a left-right direction.
