Is there a way to make mailto links redirect to gmail webmail?
 

I'm trying out omniweb and am liking it alot but cannot figure out how to change mailto settings, right now when I click on an email address it loads up Apple's Mail App, is there a way to just direct it to gmail like you can on firefox, etc?

I know I can use gmail notifier but dont like the extra app running in the backrgound

Unfortunately no, OmniWeb will respect your system mail client and always use that. I do quite like how Firefox handles this situation though, something for the future, perhaps!

The Google Notifier menulet can do this.
