My Wishlist for OW 6

OK nobodys asked for it, so I'll just annoy everyone with my wishlist for OW 6 ;o)

Ability to resize the text in text input fields. Only being able to resize the windows doesn't help often.
Resizable info area (the stuff that show on the bottom of the window when hitting CMD+i)
Moveable, resizable columns in the info area
Clickable column titles in the info area
Quick and easy way to get info about image pixel sizes (currently I have to drag and drop image on Safari to get that) :-P
When right clicking a banner and selecting block this image the URL of the image shouldn't immediately go into my blocking list, but a dialogue should appear, where I either can hit RETURN to block only the image, or I can make adjustments to the URL (grep stuff...). The blocked image should immediately disappear not after refreshing the page (just like Adblock does)
.Mac syncing should work properly (apparently it doesn't for many people)
Bookmark synching via FTP
Synching should also sync ad-block settings and per-website preferences so I don't have to adjust everything twice
Multithreading should be improved. I happens too often that OW stalls completely (on a Core Duo), if one page gets busy or when loading several pages. Often OW ends up telling me the site's not reachable (on a 100mbps fibreoptic line I don't think the connections too slow either). So not even the tabs help much if I can't work with several pages at the same time. Safari doesn't show this behaviour. It might be slower, but it feels faster, because it handles the simultaneous loading of several web pages better.
Automator actions galore. All the stuff you can do with Safari and more I want to do with OmniWeb. Especially the one where you can have Safari make an iPod note of the current page by chaining up three Automator actions. That iPod note will be split into linked multiple notes if it exceeds the max number of letters you can use in an iPod note. Really brilliant and very useful.
Some CSS debugging tools, (firebug, please!) built in. But even something like Safaris Web inspector might do.
Have the source code viewer use other fonts than courier or Monaco. If I switch to Bistream monospaced fonts, OW will default to Helvetica. Also update the source viewer, it apparently doesn't understand XHTML 1.0 tag closing like <img /> it will highlight that as an error.
A keyboard shortcut to temporarily switch off ad blocking.
May I add a very important feature for me as well:

Support for 'Find as you type".....

FWIW, the WebKit Web Inspector is already present in OmniWeb 5.5.x. No need to wait for 6.0. You will need to activate a hidden default to have it added to the bottom of the contextual menu list - I forget what it is, but you can probably find it if you do a search of the forums.

defaults write com.omnigroup.OmniWeb5 WebKitDeveloperExtras -bool true

Brill! This should be announced more publicly. Why didn't anyone tell me?...

JKT 2007-06-19 09:16 AM

Well, I should have said in my prior post that it isn't officially supported by OmniGroup, and I guess that there are potentially stability issues that might crop up with its use as it comes from a build of WebKit that isn't the official Safari one.

arglborps 2007-06-20 02:37 AM

I know, but then again, I don't care much about a little less stability in turn for that feature.

To be honest, OmniWeb has been crashing more often than not recently, so it shouldn't make much difference to me anyway :-/

Craving for OW 5.6... hint, hint..
Quick and easy way to get info about image pixel sizes (currently I have to drag and drop image on Safari to get that) :-P
Right click on image, "Open image in new tab". title bar shows dimensions.

I agree! I've asked for this in the past. Send this in via "send feedback", please!

I'd love to see this as well. Additionally, is there any easy way to block flash ads? You can't right click em, so it seems the only way is to dig into the source and find the source of the flash ad manually.
