Strange behaviour when using OmniGraffle for flowcharts

3 Attachment(s)
I wanted to use OmniGraffle to do flowcharts. Unfortunately, there are some problems.

I wanted to use my own style, but Omnigraffle keeps resetting it to the default style. That's not the worst, if connecting lines are really driving me crazy when modifing the layout of the document.

For example, look what happens if I drag some objects somewhat up or down:

When I want to create this (did this one in Photoshop)

... this is what I get when I try to do this in Omnigraffle:

I don't understand what happens, maybe I did something wrong, I don't know. Can you explain?

Thanks in advance.

is it an autoformat issue

just a guess as I was flummoxed early on by the autolayout feature throwing stuff all over the page when I moved a single box in an org chart. is autoformat off?

Practice your magnets!

To get all of the lines to line up properly you need to learn to edit the magnets in each of your objects. Additionally, you need to make sure your line styles are "orthogonal" and all of your descendant object are aligned properly.

Just play around with parent/child object magnet positioning and you'll begin to understand how to line up everything. Sometimes you need to force a connector to attach to the right magnet to make everything perfect.
