Migrate from Toodledo to Omnifocus Applescript or Importer?
I have switching to Omnifocus after trying Toodledo (I can't work with their online interface, too noisy).
I would love if there was an automatic way to do this. I know that Toodledo has an export option but I'm not sure if Omnifocus would import that. Any help is welcomed. |
There used to be a Toodledo sync script that may allow you to import to OF, but it was quite some time ago & I don't know if it would still work.
Also, OF will import various formats directly; you might see if you can get a format out of toodledo that will go into omnioutliner or OF. |
I tried downloading the sync from the google group but it said the item no longer existed. Nevertheless, it looks like I can export to a text file, import with Omnioutliner, then import that into Omnifocus.
It actually feels really good to be able to do this which makes importing/exporting very important in any kind of database I rely on after using so many different todo apps that otherwise do not allow it. That and I just learned that Omnifocus exports to Taskpaper-friendly format. Kudos for both Omnifocus and Toodledo. :) and thank you for the help. |
Glad I could help!

Does the import function also work on OF for iPad?

I was under the impression that OmniFocus only imported other OmniFocus files or OmniOutliner files.
I just completed my ToodleDo->OmniFocus integration. I did it "by hand". First I exported ToodleDo to CSV. Then I opened the CSV in a spreadsheet and copied the first column (task name). Then I pasted that column in to OmniFocus's inbox. Then I went through all the ToodleDo tasks again. I found that the majority of them had already been done, or had been already entered into my OF system, or were things I honestly wasn't going to do. Whatever I really wanted to keep I simply re-filed. The whole process took about 1/2 hour. Before you set up a complicated import procedure, contemplate how "fresh" your TD system is and whether you really need every TD task in OF. One reason I looked to switch was I wasn't using TD effectively and it wasn't current. |
