How do I edit multiple documents in one go?
Hi,
Is it possible to have several omnigraffle pro documents that use a common stencil and edit that stencil to see changes reflected in all the documents that use it? I have over 50 web page wire frame documents that use a stencil for the header. The header has to be changed but I don’t want to have to make the same amendment to 50 files! If I’ve used the wrong way to work this project, I’m happy to hear of a more efficient way to use omnigraffle pro. Cheers |
Do the wireframes need to live in separate documents? It would seem simpler to have one document with 50 canvases and a shared layer for the header/footer info.
Change the info on the shared layer and all the canvases would update accordingly. Would that cover your use case? |
Shared Layers
As I'm in the road-test phase of Omni Graffle usage, I wasn't fully aware of the shared layer feature. It makes sense for headers but I'm reusing all sorts of other elements too that I created as stencils. These don't necessarily appear in the same place on every canvas so a shared layer for them wouldn't work.
I was hoping for something akin to Symbols in Illustrator (edit the symbol and all instances of that symbol will be updated). A very helpful reply from one of the Graffle Ninjas has said that this is one of the most requested features for OmniGraffle and that it may appear in a future version. No promises though. For now though, it looks like I'll struggle with this project but subsequent wireframing will be done in Adobe Illustrator. Cheers Chris |
