Scaling an image or object by percent

Is there any way to quickly scale an image or object by a percentage, i.e 50%, 150%? I use a lot of clipart that needs to be scaled down to fit into the document, but have been either resizing from the handles (a pain if the image is larger than the work area) or using the geometry properties window in the inspector (but typing in the desired dimensions every time is just as laborious).

Are there any shortcuts (i.e. Appleworks' Arrange-Scale by percent) in Omnigraffle that would allow me to scale down in just one or two mouse clicks or keystrokes?

Thanks,

You can do this directly in the geometry inspector. First, click on the "Maintain aspect ratio" checkbox so that changes you make to width or height automatically effect the other one of the two as well.

Then you can either type a percentage directly into the width or height field (i.e. "50%" or "150%") and hit return. The shape will resize to that percentage of the original size.

Or, the fields also support arithmetic. If the existing value is, say, "100 px" you can type onto the end "/2" and then return to halve the value. The "100 px/2" gets replaced by the result. Or "100 px * 1.5" is equivalent to 150%.

You can even mix units, should that be useful: e.g. things like "1 cm + 3 px".

Thanks.

Greg,

Thanks for the revelation. To think, I've been using Omnigraffle on an almost daily basis for who knows how long. Haven't even begun to scratch the surface of its capabilities. Thanks again.

Kaj

ps. Will be ordering an OG t-shirt to flaunt on the streets of Osaka.
