AppleScript Menu Location
 

Does anyone know how to move the OF applescript menu so that it associates itself with the application and not the menu bar at large?

For example in Entourage applescripts are located in a directory within the application, and the menu icon appears only when Entourage is in focus, just after the Entourage menus (on the left).

By contrast the OF applescript icon appears on the right (near TimeMachine, etc.) and is always visible, even when I'm not using OF.

Since I only have OF related scripts, I'd like the OF applescript icon to behave as if it's part of the OF application.

Is there any way to get this behaviour?

Sorry, no. OmniFocus uses Mac OS X's script menu extra, which appears on the right end of the menubar. Most OS X apps don't support their own scripts menu anymore since one is available through the system.

AFAIK, Entourage is one of the few hold outs, as are BBEdit and TextWrangler (but those apps also provide significant additional functionality in their script menus; not sure if Entourage does).

Anyway, the only way to get a scripts menu in OmniFocus would be for the Omni Group to add one; Mac OS X's menu extra can't be "attached" to any particular app (although it can be configured to only display scripts for the front-most app).

If you really want to get rid of the script menu extra, however, you could turn it off and add your scripts to OmniFocus' toolbar. You should see your scripts listed in the Customize Toolbar sheet. This works really well if you only have a couple scripts. You can even assign custom icons to them.

Another option is to convert your scripts into Services using Automator. Under Snow Leopard, you can assign keyboard shortcuts to Services and some will even appear in a contextual menu under your mouse cursor. And moving existing AppleScripts is quite easy.
