Consistent keyboard shortcut for new action?
I use OmniFocus and OmniOutliner regularly and I'm finding it
irritating that there doesn't seem to be a universal, consistent key combo that will create a new item/action regardless of where the cursor happens to be, meaning either in the item/action description or the associated note. I notice that in OF if the cursor is in the action description field a Return creates a new action and a alt/option+Return literally creates a new line in the description however the inverse is true if the cursor is in the notes field. I think this is similar for OO. I find this irritating. What I want is a key combo that always creates a new item/action, perhaps command+return? |
In OmniOutliner, the behavior of return versus option-return is a configurable option in the Keyboard preferences. So you could switch its setting to match OmniFocus.

That's good to know but that doesn't solve the issue that in OF typing the return key in the action description field does something different as compared to typing the return key in the action note field. I want a keyboard short cut that always creates a new action/item regardless of the input field the cursor is currently in. |
