Search from text

Is there a plug-in that allows users to search a term defined in text with search engines? For example, Saft in Safari allows you to right click a defined word and search for it in, say, Google or wikipedia. Thanks.

Looking a word up in the OS's Dictionary will already return Wikipedia results. I don't believe there is an easy way to add a Google search.

Check the services menu--there should be an option to search selected text in Google. Also, if you use a keyboard-based launcher like Quicksilver or LaunchBar (I highly recommend using one of these), you can use them to initiate searches or open URLs from highlighted text.

This opens Safari for me.

Oh, I see. I pointed it out because I saw it there, not realizing that it would always direct to Safari. I never use it myself because I use LaunchBar for the same thing, and it respects my default browser setting.

Yeah, it is really annoying not to save a "search in Google" right-click item
