I can't tell how manual guides work across multiple canvases. In one experiment it looked like if I set a manual guide on canvas "A" and go to canvas "B" the manual guide was visible. In a different experiment, it was not. How does this work?

Manual guides won't span canvases, however if you create a new canvas it will inherit the guides of the last canvas. We're looking at making guides more "object-like" so you can get them on shared layers, which would be much more preferable.

So, once I have a bunch of canvases created there's no way to get them to pick up existing guides. Any copy/paste or import/export hack that might be used as a trick?

No hacks to speak of, hence our desire to look into this issue, I'm afraid. =(

Thanks... This seemed to work: make a new canvas and just drag all the layers from the previous one to the new one. Maybe there's a problem lurking but it seems to work. Anyway, gotcha!
