Viewing in Context View w/out Projects?
Am I missing something? I have set up a few tasks with no dates, and no projects, but with contexts. They appear, as expected, in the Inbox in Planning View but they don't appear in the Context View even though they have contexts attached to them. Is this the intended behaviour?
Thanks David |
Context view does not show inbox actions. You need to move the actions into either 1) a project or 2) a list of single actions (which is like a project with an option set in the Project inspector. There is a preference to have actions with contexts but no projects automatically filed into a default single action list when running Clean Up.

Many thanks Curt. Out of interest, what's the philosophy behind inbox items not being viewable in contexts mode? David |
I think the idea is that Inbox is for "out of sight, out of mind" items. If I think of something in the course of doing other work, I throw it into the inbox (using QuickEntry) for processing later. Until the item has been processed from the Inbox into the appropriate place, OF assumes it is not actionable. By default, if you provide a context and project for an action from QuickEntry, then the item bypasses the inbox. There's a hidden preference to send all items to the inbox, forcing manual processing.
