Fixed Effort, Fixed Duration
 

I've been fiddling around with the effort and duration settings in the resource assignment info tab.

As you probably know, the default is "Keep Effort Fixed". However, for our environment and planning process, I've come to the conclusion that the setting of "Keep Effort and Duration Fixed" is most useful.

Is there any way of specifying "Keep Effort and Duration Fixed" as the default setting so we don't have to go into every new task to set it so?

For each task and resource type you can define a prototype. This is one of the attributes of the prototype task.

Set up a (throw-away) task that looks and behaves the way you'd like all newly created to look. With that task selected, to to Project -> Set as Default for New Tasks. Now if you create a new tasks it should match the prototype. Other task types have their own prototype, so you may want to customize them as well.

The prototype tasks and resources are saved with the file. You might like to set up a document template with your preferred settings at this point.
