How to share - Two people one database

My husband and I work together and are using Omnifocus for Mac (me) and Omnifocus for Ipad (hubby). I have these syncing using mobileme but I'm wondering what is the best way to see whose todo it is and who the to do is for.

We both would like to set todo's for each other and work on the same projects as well as have our own projects. Should I be using contexts to separate our stuff or is there a better way.

Yes I know, I'll book in for some marriage counselling :)

Thanks!

Currently there is no smooth way to do collaboration/delegation with Omnifocus. OG plans on making us use OmniPlan to do any sort of Group Collaboration with OF in the future, which is a little strange.

Have you tried Wunderlist on iOS, OSX, PC. It's free and allows you to collaborate to your hearts content. It is nowhere as robust as OmniFocus, but I find it useful for sharing lists with my wife. It's great for maintaining Grocery Lists, House Tasks, Shopping Lists, etc.

OmniFocus was really designed for the individual user. The present reality of work is all about collaboration and delegation, so I hope they implement this much needed feature sometime soon...but until then, you will have to cobble together your optimal workflow.

Donna,

We do this in our business right now and while as policarpo says it is no where near supported it works just fine. We have three licenses used by three users sharing a mobileme account. We divide the work flow up by context. When I need to work on my tasks I simply select my contexts. You can have sub-contexts as well so if I need to work on phone calls I can select George:Calls and get to work.

We have been using Omnifocus for over a year in this way and have never had any corruption issues. That said of course always have a good backup.

We did this for about six months, and things starting going south when one of my team members corrupted his database. The next time he synced, we began getting duplications all over the place.

The system set up this way can work, but you have to be mindful that what you are interacting with is a potentially fragile setup since it was never designed to perform this way. In other words, use @ your own risk in this manner. I am not saying it will present errors of the nature we encountered, but it is something to keep in mind if you have mission critical content you need access to.

Other errors I encountered were when people were hitting the same database simultaneously. Sometime tasks would make it in, and other times tasks would never sync.

Glad it's working for you gcrump.

As I said always keep a good backup. That said it is amazingly stable

I should also mention that I was doing this with a 5 member team.

Good to know. I was thinking of managing a common task list with my family and did not see a way of how to make it work in OF. It's a charm for personal task management, but collaboration seems to be a very different thing.
