Making line labels repel in a force directed graph
 

Is there any way to make the labels on a line repel objects (the same way shapes do) in a force directed layout? I'm trying to figure out a way to make sure the labels are visible and aren't obscured by neighboring shapes.

I'm afraid that line labels don't factor into automatic layout at all, however this sounds like an interesting idea to discuss, thanks for bringing it up.
