Issues with Keychain

Just a few days ago I noticed that my Keychain was missing about half of its original items. It appears most of the missing information was internet items, not notes or application passwords.

In any case, this happened about the time I upgraded to beta 2. Is there any possibility of the two things being related at all? Apple Care could not provide any explanations. So I thought I would try here as well.

Thanks.

Upgraded to beta 2 from what?

I don't believe we changed anything related to security in beta 2 vs. beta 1--but certainly since 5.1.3.

Additionally, did you upgrade your OS (say to 10.4.7)?

From SP 17 (?). I actually think it's an Apple issue but wanted to check here as well. Very strange since usually the entire keychain will be corrupted, not simply part of it. It may have happened after the security update released this past week.

We didn't change anything keychain related since SP17--but since some information is stored with each keychain entry about which applications are allowed to use them including some sort of checksum of the executable, it is possible that when you upgraded OmniWeb and the system went to update keychain entries it (accidentally) deleted them instead.

Thanks Len. That would make sense since my impression is that most of the items that disappeared are internet passwords, not notes or application passwords. In any case, the keychain is growing steadily once again.

It also might be worth mentioning that Safari has a "Reset Safari..." menu item that deletes all saved Passwords, we share passwords with Safari which means that OmniWeb passwords disappear as well.
