Generating an action item from email on iPad

I realize that OF for the iPad is still a ways off and it is way too soon for a features list. I'm actually asking a technical question relative to the the iPhone OS that will be used in the iPad.

Is it technically feasible on the iPhone, iTouch and/or iPad to have a function like the Clip-O-Tron 3000?

The vast majority of my action items arise from emails. I use the C-O-T function to create them and have the link back to the email in the action item.

I've never figured out an easy way to do it on the iPhone and am wondering if it is going to present the same difficulty on the iPad.

All of the iPad-related stuff is under a non-disclosure agreement, so we can't really say much about what features the mail app there will have or not have. For what it's worth, the mail app on the iPhone doesn't support the sort of cross-app communication that the clip-o-tron depends on.

We can't make a blanket guarantee that every feature in the Mac version will appear on the iPad/iPhone. We do try to bring over the ones that are a) possible and b) important to customers' workflows.

The best thing to do here is to let the support ninjas know that this feature would be valuable to you on the iPad; that way the team can take your feedback into account while they work on that version of the app.

Thanks. I appreciate the restrictions you are under and will forward my concerns to the support ninjas.

I don't use OF in GTD mode as GTD is of little use to me. But the ability to create action items from emails is something that the desktop OF does better than anything else I've found and is a huge help. I'm hoping that there will be some means to efficiently do so with the iPad.
