Thanks for the tip Geoff. Repairing the permissions (http://blog.chron.com/techblog/2011/09/want-to-really-repair-permissions-on-your-mac-try-this/) on my home directory seems to have done the trick....

OmniFocus has suddenly started throwing the following error whenever I attempt to check off or create a new item.
