How do local notifications work in OF 1.7?

How do the notifications work now in OF 1.7? I had been syncing to iCal and getting alerts that way. With iOS 4 and OF 1.7, should I turn off calendar syncing to avoid duplicate alerts?

my workaround for semi-automatic .Mac syncing

I tried storing the OF file on my iDisk, but since it syncs the individual files of the OF file bundle, it was taking forever (and I just gave up).

This is what I am doing now to sync my home...
