One thing you can do, is pull down some manual guides (Pro feature, I think) from Arrange > Guides > New Horizontal Guide or New Vertical Guide. That should help you center things up. The Guides...

Also, in the Properties > Geometry inspector, if you rotate the triangles you create, you can move the cursor away from the rotation wheel as you rotate, so you can get finer control.
