One solution that might work as well if not better, would be if the don't-print-this-layer-option would also mean don't-include-this-layer-when-exporting-to-PDF.

At least in my view, what I do...

You know what, actually forget about this... after some thinking, coffee and gingerbread cookies I've realized that it's a lot better to hide the layers on the canvas, so that there's an empty...

Is it possible to move the origo for the ruler?

Example:
I have a canvas with a box on it. I want that box's left side to be at x coordinate 0.

But, I don't want to stick it all the way over...
